Description of the Accelerated Master of Divinity/Christian Ministries Degree

The accelerated Master of Divinity/Christian ministries degree is a professional graduate degree beyond the Bachelor of Arts or equivalent. It is designed to equip students for service as

  • a minister of education, minister to youth, minister to children, or administrator in the local church;
  • a missionary in the area of Christian education; or
  • a teacher or administrator in a church-related school.

The accelerated Master of Divinity/Christian ministries degree requires 60 semester hours of course credit and is only available to students who have completed a Bachelor of Arts in Christian studies or Bachelor of Arts in biblical counseling at Mid-America, or students from other Christian colleges who have satisfied the specific course requirements as indicated.

General Requirements

In order to qualify for graduation from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, each student in the accelerated Master of Divinity/Christian ministries degree program must satisfy the General Requirements for Graduation as set forth in this catalog.

Course Requirements

Each student seeking the accelerated Master of Divinity/Christian ministries degree must complete the 60 semester hours of credit specified in the following chart. The accelerated Master of Divinity/Christian education degree includes several components:

  1. 39 hours of required courses
  2. 18 semester hours of elective courses
  3. a three-credit hour capstone paper/course.

Note: Logos Bible Research Software (Silver edition or above) is recommended for courses in the New Testament Department.
